Celebrating Motherhood with Bella and Oliviaโ€™s Mums

This Motherโ€™s Day, our founders sat down with their mums to reflect on confidence, self-worth, the highs and lows of motherhood, and the wisdom theyโ€™ve gathered along the way. Theirheartfelt responses are a beautiful reminder of the strength and resilience that come with being aย mother.

Confidence & Self-Worth

What helped you build your confidence when you were younger?

Bellaโ€™s Mum: The Confidence to talk to strangers, meet new people, and put myself out there forย work opportunities has always been there even when I felt imposter syndrome. I tried anyway.ย Having the confidence to fail has always been important to me. The same goes for relationships. Ifย you donโ€™t try, youโ€™ll never know.

Oliviaโ€™s Mum:ย I didnโ€™t have much confidence when I was younger, it wasnโ€™t something that cameย naturally to me.

What advice would you give to women learning to feel confident in their own skin?

Bellaโ€™s Mum:ย Confidence in your own skin is about self-esteem and self-worth. Donโ€™t compareย yourself to others, especially on social media. Look in the mirror and find the things you like aboutย yourself, there will always be something, no matter how small.

Oliviaโ€™s Mum:ย Youโ€™re far more capable and beautiful than you give yourself credit for. Andย remember, most decisions find a way of making themselves in the end.

What makes you feel beautiful today?

Bellaโ€™s Mum:ย Learning to love myself and practicing gratitude. You donโ€™t need validation fromย others to feel beautiful. Your light shines from within.

Oliviaโ€™s Mum:ย My children. Theyโ€™re a constant reminder of the beauty that comes from love,ย resilience, and connection.

Motherhood: The Highs & Lows

How would you describe motherhood?

Bellaโ€™s Mum:ย A constant emotional rollercoaster. Balancing work, life, family, and kids isย challenging, but itโ€™s worth it. The unconditional love and closeness of family are what make it soย special. Watching my childrenโ€™s successes and celebrating their little wins in life brings me soย much joy.

What surprised you most about becoming a mother?

Bellaโ€™s Mum:ย I gained a deeper understanding and appreciation of my mother.

Oliviaโ€™s Mum:ย The biggest surprise was how much of motherhood is about being completelyย selfless. Your needs often take a backseat, but somehow, your heart grows fuller because of it.

What was the hardest part of motherhood that no one prepared you for?

Bellaโ€™s Mum: Experiencing my childrenโ€™s pain, whether itโ€™s emotional or physical. No one preparesย you for how deeply you feel their pain.

Oliviaโ€™s Mum:ย Sleep deprivation. Itโ€™s a level of exhaustion no one can truly prepare you for.

What are some of your favourite memories of raising us?

Bellaโ€™s Mum:ย Sharing travel moments and experiencing new things together. Watching you bothย grow and make memories with me has been my greatest gift.

Oliviaโ€™s Mum:ย Listening to your laughter fill the house and watching you grow into who you areย today. Those moments of pure joy stay with me.

What did you learn about yourself through motherhood?

Bellaโ€™s Mum:ย My children are the most important part of my life, even now that theyโ€™re adults.ย Thereโ€™s a saying: Youโ€™re only as happy as your happiest child. It couldnโ€™t be more true.

Oliviaโ€™s Mum:ย That no matter how old we get, weโ€™re never really โ€œgrown-ups.โ€ Weโ€™re all justย emotionally vulnerable, doing our best.ย If you could go back and tell your younger self one thing about being a mum, what would it be?

Bellaโ€™s Mum:ย Time flies. Make the most of every stage in your childโ€™s development, even theย sleepless nights. One day, youโ€™ll miss those moments even when theyโ€™ve become monosyllabic,ย grunty teenagers.

Oliviaโ€™s Mum:ย Give yourself more moment.ย to be present, to enjoy the little things, and to soak in every

Life Lessons & Wisdom

Whatโ€™s something you wish more women knew about navigating life?

Bellaโ€™s Mum:ย Share your truth. There will always be someone else going through the same thing.ย Youโ€™re never alone.

Oliviaโ€™s Mum:ย Thereโ€™s no rule book, and sometimes things are simply out of your control. The bestย you can do is trust yourself and keep going.

What advice would you pass on to the next generation of women?

Bellaโ€™s Mum:ย Donโ€™t compare yourself to others on social media, itโ€™s just a highlight reel. Celebrateย other women instead. Support the sisterhood, and remember, kindness goes a long way.

Oliviaโ€™s Mum:ย No matter what anyone says, you are beautiful inside and out. Donโ€™t let anyoneย make you believe otherwise.

What does โ€œself-loveโ€ mean to you now?

Bellaโ€™s Mum:ย Taking an hour of โ€œme timeโ€ every day to prioritise myself, recharge, and refreshย without guilt.

Oliviaโ€™s Mum:ย Itโ€™s about embracing the quiet moments. Taking time for yourself to breathe, reflect,ย and recharge. You deserve that peace.

This Motherโ€™s Day, we celebrate the beautiful, complex, and inspiring journey of motherhood.

Hereโ€™s to the women who nurture, guide, and love unconditionally. May you always find momentsย to care for yourself, too.
